We've Updated Our Bills - Thanks for the Feedback
04/18/2025
As Georgia’s highest-rated natural gas provider, we’re always looking for ways to make each customer’s experience with us even better. That can mean big, exciting changes from time to time, but it also means we strive to address the little things that can make a difference.
Recently, in response to customer feedback, we made a small but significant change to a line item in our bills that we hope provides even more clarity. From now on, customers will see that “AGL Pass-Through Charge” on their bills has been updated to read as “Atlanta Gas Light’s Base Fee”—see an example in How to Read Your Gas Bill.
Of course, it’s the same fee it always was, collected by Gas South on behalf of Atlanta Gas Light (AGL). We just thought a slight language tweak would make it more obvious where the fee was going, ensuring even greater transparency for each of our valued customers.
All providers in Georgia are required to collect this fee for AGL, as it helps cover AGL's costs as your utility provider to store and deliver natural gas. Including this fee in your bill each month keeps you from having to make two separate payments—one to your natural gas provider and another to AGL.
All of us at Gas South appreciate the input we’ve received from customers on this topic, and we hope our little update helps. Check out our helpful article, A Closer Look at Atlanta Gas Light, for more on the role of AGL and natural gas.
