ATLANTA, Ga. (December 19, 2024) - Gas South received the Community Involvement Award from Gainesville Chamber of Commerce amongst a competitive pool of applicants making a difference in the community.
Gas South’s Gainesville-based team has contributed 525 hours to volunteering with nonprofits and organizations to help improve the lives of children and families in the community. The company has also partnered with the YMCA, Bread of the Mighty Food Bank and Junior Achievement in the Gainesville area to fund key programs.
“I’m honored for Gas South to receive this recognition,” said Kevin Greiner, Gas South president and CEO. “One of our core values is being better together, both as a team and as a community. Our commitment to the children of our communities is reflected in this achievement.”
Gainesville Chamber of Commerce annually honors businesses for their role in helping the region become a global hub of talent, innovation, and opportunity. Gas South has an office in Celebration Pointe and 144 Florida-based employees. The natural gas provider serves about 15,000 commercial and industrial customers in the state of Florida.
The number of children in poverty in Alachua County is decreasing, however the number of unemployed people is increasing as job opportunities decline in the area, according to The Florida Scorecard.
