2024: Gas South's Year in Review

1/23/2025

As we gear up for another great year here at Georgia’s highest-rated natural gas provider, we thought we’d take a few moments in this week’s blog to touch on a handful of our company highlights in 2024.

As many of you know, we give back 5% of profits each year to help support children in need—millions of dollars annually to nonprofits that focus on childhood basic needs, education and health. In 2024, we’re excited to announce that we gave back more than $4.2 million to these organizations, which brings our total charitable give all these years to more than $20 million.

We also had 316 of our employees log 1,726 volunteer hours with 34 different charity organizations. Each of our employees gets 8 paid hours every year to volunteer with our charitable partners, and we’re honored that so many of them take the time to help make a difference.

We upped our commitment to solar projects near the end of 2024, as well. By the end of 2025, Gas South will have invested about $97.5 million to this effort to help make the planet more sustainable.

In April, we announced that our long-time mascot, Mr. Meter, would be soon making appearances in person, versus just being featured in advertisements as a two-dimensional character. Since then, he’s been spotted at a number of games and events throughout Atlanta, spreading good vibes as our loveable representative.

In May, we were pleased to raise our minimum wage for regular, full-time employees to $22 per hour, a move our President and CEO Kevin Griener described as efforts to “support our goal of having the most effective, collaborative and engaged team in our industry.”

That same month, we were honored for the first time to be recognized nationally as a top workplace by USA Today—an accolade bestowed upon Gas South for our outstanding culture and values. Months later, we were also recognized locally by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as one of the city’s top 25 workplaces.

In August, after months of planning, we relocated our headquarters to a new state-of-the art office at The Battery. The new space has allowed for easier access to our partner the Atlanta Braves, as well as the restaurants, shops and other amenities offered at The Battery.

We’re thankful to each of our customers—all of you make it possible for us to Be A Fuel For Good®. And we look forward to serving you in 2025.
